On the morning of March 7, the Group Standardization Technical Committee of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association held a group standard expert review meeting for the "Carbon Footprint Accounting Standard for Plastic Products" in Tianjin in a combination of online and offline methods. The review expert group consists of Academician Wang Yuzhong of Sichuan University, Chief Scientist Xiao Xuezhi of the Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Engineer Wang Xiaoxia of the National Carbon Emission Management Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC548), Associate Professor Wang Hongtao of Sichuan University, and Senior Chen Jufang of Saibao Low Carbon Digital Studio Engineer and researcher Li Bin of Donghua University. Academician Wang Yuzhong serves as the team leader, and Chief Scientist Xiao Xuezhi serves as the deputy team leader.

The meeting was chaired by Tian Yan, vice chairman of the China Plastics Association and executive director of the Youth League Standard Committee.
Chairman Wang Zhanjie and director of the Youth League Standard Committee delivered a speech first. He talked about the significance of the formulation of the "Carbon Footprint Accounting Standard for Plastic Products" group standard to the plastics processing industry. It is an important step for the China Plastics Association to promote the implementation of the "dual carbon" strategy in the plastics processing industry under the background that the country attaches great importance to "dual carbon" work. Specific actions are also the basic standards for all "dual carbon" standards for plastic products, and are important basic standards that relate to and affect the progress of dual carbon work in the entire industry. This standard has also received great attention from the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Plastic Products (SAC/TC48), which promptly recommended and applied for national standards, achieving a successful transformation and upgrade from the group standard to the national standard project.
In the standard review session, the expert review team listened to the introduction of the standard text, preparation instructions, opinion summary and processing situation, etc. by Tian Hui, director of the Quality Standards Department of China Plastics Association, and after questioning and discussion, the expert review team gave "the method determined by the standard is scientific, "Reasonable, operable, reaching the domestic leading level, and passing the review" and suggested that the preparation team should revise the draft for review based on the revision opinions and form a draft for approval as soon as possible and submit it to the China Plastics Association for approval and release.
The group standard "Carbon Footprint Accounting Standard for Plastic Products" passed expert review, marking another solid step for the plastics processing industry on the road to green development. The industry will continue to promote technological innovation, industrial upgrading and green development, and make positive contributions to achieving my country's sustainable development goals.
