Spring Festival, Reunion Day

Feb 06, 2025Leave a message

Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is the most important traditional holiday in China. It marks the beginning of the lunar new year and is celebrated with great enthusiasm by Chinese communities worldwide.

The preparations for Chinese New Year begin weeks in advance. Families clean their homes to sweep away bad luck and make way for good fortune. Red decorations, such as lanterns and couplets, are hung to symbolize happiness and prosperity. The color red is believed to ward off evil spirits.

On New Year's Eve, families gather for a reunion dinner, which is the most significant meal of the year. Traditional dishes like dumplings, fish, and rice cakes are served, each carrying symbolic meanings of wealth, prosperity, and good luck. At midnight, fireworks light up the sky to drive away evil and welcome the new year.

During the festival, children receive red envelopes containing money, known as "hongbao," as a symbol of good wishes and blessings. People also visit relatives and friends, exchanging greetings and gifts. Chinese New Year is not only a time for celebration but also a time for reflection, family bonding, and hope for a prosperous year ahead.

Qingdao Onway Home would like to send holiday blessings to everyone, and wish everyone a happy Spring Festival!
